2 Ingredient Cranberry Apple Brisket

Fall is officially here! The air is crisp, the leaves are falling and all I want to do is go apple picking! Fall is my favorite season! I love wearing my favorite puffer vest and hearing the leaves crunch beneath my feet. I  get excited when the Thanksgiving issues of my favorite food magazines get delivered. I really just love Fall!

One classic Fall flavor combination that goes perfectly into a crumble or a cocktail (or in this case brisket) is cranberry apple. Like many of my recipes, this too came out of “oh my gosh, I cannot believe I have to cook again”! (I first made this recipe for Shabbos Chol Hamoed Succos, when I was cooking every other day for a whole month). I had a brisket defrosted and ready to cook, but had no plan of what to do with it. I usually throw some spices together, sear it off and cook with wine and onions. This time I had zero interest in doing anything other than putting it in the oven.

I looked through the fridge for inspiration  and found a bottle of hard apple cider, I knew I had a can of cranberry sauce in the pantry and thought it would go great together! I tried my luck and amazingly enough the brisket came out SOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is so easy and takes no prep time at all! I hope you try this recipe and love it as much as I do!

  • 3lb second cut brisket or top of the rib roast
  • 12 oz bottle hard cider or apple ale
  • 16 oz can jellied cranberry sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 TBSP Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  1. Pre heat oven to 300
  2. Combine all spices together and generously sprinkle on both sides of the meat.
  3. Combine apple cider and cranberry sauce .Place meat in a baking dish, pour sauce over the meat. Cover tightly and cook for 3 hours.
  4. Cool before slicing against the grain.
